This summer Alberta Bobsleigh will be hosting a number of 'Learn to Push' camps in the Ice House at Canada Olympic Park. If you are interested in the sport of bobsleigh, come out and join us on one of these dates. Our coaches will teach you the push technique in this world class facility that has produced world and Olympic champions. Canada has some of the fastest push athletes on the planet due to this Ice House.
Dates for these camps are:
It was a chilly one for our second Alberta Cup race of the season. Ivo de Bruin continued his winning streak. Heath Spence followed closely behind with Taylor Austin third. Our women's field was won by ABA Team member, Kennedy Bailey. Thanks to everyone who came out to officiate in the cold.
The first Alberta Cup race of the season is in the books. We had a quite the lineup.... Forerunning were Alysia Rissling and her all woman 4man sled, along with one of Canada's Para Bobsleigh athletes Lonnie Bissonnette in a monobob. Winning this first race was Dutch Canadian Ivo de Bruin. Ivo was an Alberta Team member last season and now will be going on to slide for Holland. Alberta pilots Remi Kleszcznyski (Oscar Wronski on brakes) and Ryan Taal (Igor Brink on brakes) were second and third respectively.
Our calendar dates for the rest of the season are updated. Lots of sliding in January, February and March. Please check this calendar before coming to the hill as this is where I will update if we get a late cancellation (due to weather). Happy sliding.
Sunday October 4th at 10:00am, ABA and Foothills Bobsleigh Club will be at the sled shed (near the finish dock) to sign up all members and also have a sled maintenance / handling clinic. Pilots, bring your tools to work on your bobsleigh. Brakemen, come and meet all of the pilots and learn how to move the sleds.
